South Jersey patients can rely on the empathetic expertise of our compassionate professionals. As proof of this commitment to empathy, please read the attached story of a 9 year old who needed an emergency root canal after badly fracturing her front tooth roller skating. At The Centre of Dentistry, we know that going to the dentist may cause apprehension, and we do all that we can to provide comfortable, anxiety-free treatments. Some patients have debilitating dental phobias—and are so fearful, they ignore their oral health just to avoid going to the dentist. If you feel any discomfort or anxiety during your treatment, just lift one finger, and we’ll stop immediately. We’ll keep adjusting your sedation dentistry effects until you’re completely relaxed. Many people are simply needle-phobic. Because of our proven technique, if you close your eyes tightly, the most you will feel is a tiny mosquito bite of discomfort when we take the appropriate amount of time to be sure you’re ready for the next level of anesthetic. Dr. Markus frequently tells patients that the only French product he buys is Septocaine, a very potent anesthetic that doesn’t require a lot to get someone numb. Time is essential here. We don’t rush patients in and out, and allow our patients to be numb before we start their treatment, and we can even reverse the numbness before you leave with Oraverse! In a double-blind study Dr. Markus’ technique exceeded the patient-perceived results of a device many dentists tout: The Wand.
The benefits of nitrous oxide for the medical community were postulated as early as 1794. And nitrous oxide has been used in dental offices since 1863. At The Centre for Dentistry in Haddon Heights, we offer nitrous oxide as a sedation dentistry option. Not only does nitrous oxide help with the numbing process and keep you more relaxed, but it has limited effects. You can drive home or back to work as soon as your appointment is over.
We also have an extensive library of more 300 CDs, iPods, Pandora, Slacker, and your favorite local or national stations on the internet, for your listening enjoyment—or bring your own! There will soon be an even better way to block out the sound of the drill. Our drills, by the way, are electric, not turbines, which are the quietest drills available.
Oral conscious sedation is a sedation dentistry choice for patients who experience a high level of anxiety. In order to take advantage of this sedation dentistry option, you’ll need a driver. We give you an oral sedative an hour before your appointment. You’ll still be able to respond during treatment, but you’ll be very relaxed and might think you're sleeping, but you're not unconscious during your procedures. You will be able to respond to commands and chat with us, but most patients don’t remember anything about the process. It’s the side effect of temporary amnesia with the medications we use, that make the sedation process so amazing. Patients facing long visits, patients who are gaggers, patients looking to overcome years of neglect are also great candidates for this process. You don’t need to be afraid, it’s okay, we totally understand.
We will never be judgmental about how your mouth looks when you come in. We will be very proud, as will you, of what you have achieved on the way out! Learn more now about sedation dentistry.
